Intellectual Property Protection for You
About You
Before talking “about us” we want to talk about you. Are you an individual or a business who understands the critical role that IP plays in what you do?
Do you have a discrete intellectual property issue that needs to be handled efficiently and effectively? Are you looking for an ongoing strategy for intellectual property protection from Intellectual Property lawyers who think proactively about your intellectual property issues, who know what they’re doing, and who will deliver on time and on budget?
About Magnum IP
We’re lawyers who are passionate about all things intellectual property. Protection of your IP – particularly in the form of trade marks and copyright – is crucial to the value of your business, so it’s important to speak with people who “do IP” every day. Check out our IP Services page to see how we can help you.
Our clients include inventors, graphic designers, software developers, Internet service providers (ISP’s), manufacturers, importers and exporters, publishers and web entrepreneurs. They include consultants in all sorts of fields, including recruitment and human resources, mental health and travel. Our clients come from all walks of life, and include business owners who are work-at-home-mums (WAHMs) and national and international companies.
We are members of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand and the Law Institute of Victoria.
Why choose Magnum IP for Intellectual Property Protection?
1. Experienced lawyers
Our professional staff have extensive Intellectual Property protection experience over many years. Our principal, Yvette Kwei, has had over 10 years of experience working at firms including Deacons and Piper Alderman. She has acted for companies such as Pacific Brands (with brands such as Bonds, and Hush Puppies), CPA Australia, Haigh’s Chocolates, Hills Industries, and the Walter & Eliza Hall Institute among others.
2. Low cost business model
Magnum IP has developed an Internet-based business model that relies on low fixed costs and streamlined business processes to deliver significant competitive advantages over most traditional law firms. These efficiencies are passed on to you in the form of lower fees.
3. Flexible working methods
We believe that our job is to fit in with the way our client’s like to work … not the other way around. If you have the time but not the budget, you can keep down your legal costs by doing quite a bit of the work under our guidance, perhaps while using some of our “DIY Kits”. On the other hand, if you just need someone to take care of everything for you, we’re happy to do that too.
4. Friendly service
You have the direct telephone number of your lawyer, who is readily contactable by phone and email. Our clients don’t feel like the clock has started running as soon as we pick up the phone.
5. Simple explanations
Our advice is always clear and given in plain English. Intellectual Property protection can be a complex area, but we work to simplify without over-simplifying. Have a look at our blog posts and see if you agree.
6. Tailored advice
It’s possible to deliver cut-priced service by delivering “one size fits all” advice, but that’s not what we do. We’re not a factory that churns out trade mark applications or confidentiality agreements. We understand that every client has unique needs and goals with respect to Intellectual Property protection and we tailor our advice accordingly.
7. Fair billing practices
In most cases, we prefer to work with fixed quotes, which makes it easier for you to budget for our intellectual property protection services. Generally, we don’t charge you extra for the incidental costs of running our business, including costs for photocopies, faxes, interstate or international telephone calls, or even costs for mailing a letter to you!
Where we do charge on an hourly basis, we give you our best estimates of likely charges before proceeding. We then keep you up to date with our billing and charges as we go and provide you with itemised bills that explain clearly where we have spent our time.
8. Something different
Have a look around our web site. We believe that we’re a little different from anyone else out there, and we hope you think so too. We love what we do. We’re lawyers that take Intellectual Property very seriously without the need to be too serious ourselves.
